Software Academy

At iMorph Innovation Center, we are trying a new experiment – Innovation in Teaching and Learning. We hope to start with the software community and move to others, building tools, trying a few novel methods. ThisĀ  journey, so far, is exciting and extremely satisfying.

One of the inspirations for this initiative was a study by Deloitte on How People Learn and this fascinating book – How People Learn: Brain, Mind, Excellence and School.

Another source of inspiration was from Seven Freedoms of Learning.

We want to start small, with a beginner’s course and then move up levels.

I am setting up a Learning Innovation Center at NTTF, Chennai and selected about 20 students to participate in the program.

The goal is to offer courses based on the requirements in the industry. These change constantly. It is important to have a model where we track these changes in the industry.
Some of the initial courses include:

  • Fundamentals- Computers, Software, Internet, Web Applications, Emerging Technologies, Opportunities
  • Building Rich Internet Applications
  • Building Enterprise Mashups
  • Building Web 2.0 Applications
  • Building Tools for the Web

Our Fundamental Courses are free. They will be based on the material provided by similar courses in Berkeley, CA, Open Course Ware Initiative from MIT, Boston and other sources.

Our value proposition is not content. It is the skill we developed in building products over the last 30+ years. All our courses will be taught by practitioners with at least 5 years of experience.

We understand your current skill level and direct you to learn what you need. We do not stand up and deliver lectures (even though we may do that if it helps). We interact with you on-line and off line and carefully guide you.
